Edmonton teen charged with murder in fatal crash appears in court

GLASGOW, Ky. – An Edmonton teen facing murder charges stemming from a recent fatal crash appeared in court Monday.

In Barren County, Asa Robert Allen Howard was arraigned in District Court. The 18-year-old appeared before Judge J. Gabriel Pendleton via Zoom, which is typical for arraignments.

Howard is being charged with three counts of murder, as well as assault and wanton endangerment following a traffic accident on Oct. 17 in which three people were killed, including two juveniles.

Howard is being held in the Barren County Jail and will have a preliminary hearing on Nov. 10. He was represented by counsel at the arraignment.

Howard was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 1. Major Terry Flatt says a warrant was issued for the arrest of Howard on Friday, Oct. 31.

The arrest warrant was obtained following an investigation into a fatal crash that occurred in Glasgow on Oct. 17, which left three teens dead.

Flatt says the department’s investigation indicates that Howard was driving at a high rate of speed on North Jackson Highway and failed to stop at an intersection with Veterans Outer Loop.

Police say Howard’s vehicle struck another vehicle. Flatt says Howard fled the crash scene on foot before returning.

Officers at the scene say Howard was under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

The investigation is ongoing.
