BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – It might feel early for holiday cheer, but it’s right on time for Barren County.

According to barrencounty.net, the county is being recognized through Beautify the Bluegrass for its transformation of the Glasgow square during the prior year’s Christmas season.

The project was led by Beautify Barren County, an area nonprofit that aims to enhance the natural beauty of the community.

Beautify Barren County’s mission is to “unite residents, businesses and community leaders in a shared effort to make lasting improvements to our home,” according to barrencounty.net.

The nonprofit’s efforts for Christmas of 2024 brought that mission to life, thanks to a group of volunteers, city staff and local businesses. The joint effort resulted in decorations adorning the Glasgow square, resulting in a welcoming place for families and visitors.

The Beautify the Bluegrass initiative, sponsored by Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, Kentucky Living and Gov. Andy Beshear, celebrates community projects across the Commonwealth that show local pride and creativity. In this recognition, barrencounty.net states officials “praised Barren County’s project for capturing the spirit of teamwork and civic pride that defines Kentucky communities.”

Congratulations to Barren County and Beautify Barren County on this accomplishment.
