Woman arrested in Hart Co. following vehicle pursuit
SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – One woman is facing multiple charges following a reported pursuit that crossed into Hart County early Friday.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police observed 26-year-old Quinisha Smith of Fairdale, Kentucky, traveling 97 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 65 in Smiths Grove.
Troopers say despite turning on their emergency lights, the vehicle failed to yield. Authorities say Smith’s vehicle eventually reached speeds of 120 mph.
Upon reaching exit 53 for Cave City, authorities say tire deflation devices were deployed, deflating the passenger side tires.
Authorities say the vehicle continued to speed until it stopped in the emergency lane in Hart County.
Smith, along with three passengers, were taken into custody.
Troopers say they confirmed Smith had a warrant out of Jefferson County. In addition, authorities say two of the passengers were wanted on warrants as well.
Authorities say they discovered a large sum of cash in Smith’s possession.
After receiving a positive alert on the vehicle by a K-9, authorities say they also located a scale with white powdered residue.
Smith was arrested and remains at the Hart County Jail on charges of speeding 26 miles per hour or more over the speed limit, reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
