2 dead after collision between motorcycle and tractor-trailer in Caldwell County

MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Two people are dead following a collision between a motorcycle and tractor-trailer in Caldwell County on Thursday night.
The Kentucky State Police says Caldwell County dispatch requested assistance from troopers regarding the collision on Interstate 69 northbound near the 75-mile marker.
According to a preliminary investigation, authorities say Gregory Standard of Louisville was driving a tractor-trailer northbound on I-69 when Standard reported seeing a motorcycle suffer equipment failure.
Authorities say the tractor-trailer was traveling directly behind the motorcycle when it lost control and was unable to avoid a secondary collision.
The motorcycle occupants, 55-year-old Michael McAlister and 57-year-old Laura McAlister, both of Princeton, Kentucky, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County coroner.
The operator of the tractor-trailer did not report any injuries, authorities say. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
