Updated list of burn bans for the week of Sept. 19

Burn Ban

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Several burn bans remain in place as of Friday, Sept. 19.

Dry conditions persist in multiple areas throughout Kentucky, raising the risk of wildfires. Officials say burn bans normally prohibit the following:

  • Burning of forest, grass, crops, woodlands, marshes or other similar areas.
  • Burning leaves or debris.
  • Campfires, bonfires and warming fires.
  • Open pit cooking and charcoal grilling.
  • Use of fireworks and welding may also be prohibited or regulated.

According to the Team Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, the following counties are under burn bans:

  • Bourbon
  • Boyd
  • Bracken
  • Caldwell
  • Calloway
  • Carlisle
  • Christian
  • Clark
  • Crittenden
  • Edmonson
  • Fleming
  • Franklin
  • Fulton
  • Graves
  • Harrison
  • Hart
  • Henderson
  • Henry
  • Hickman
  • Hopkins
  • Jessamine
  • Johnson
  • LaRue
  • Lewis
  • Livingston
  • Logan
  • Lyon
  • Marion
  • Marshall
  • Mason
  • McCracken
  • McLean
  • Mercer
  • Metcalfe
  • Montgomery
  • Robertson
  • Scott
  • Shelby
  • Spencer
  • Todd
  • Trigg

In addition, the following cities are under burn bans:

  • Augusta
  • Edmonton
  • Hodgenville
  • Murray
  • Providence

In addition, wildfire hazard season in Kentucky lasts from Oct. 1 through Dec. 15. During this time, outdoor burning will be illegal within 150 feet of woodlands or brushlands between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
