Hackett earns CUSA Golfer of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU women’s golf senior Sydney Hackett has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. It is Hackett’s fifth time earning the weekly award and the second time in the last three weeks.
The Ashburn, Virginia native finished second at the Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin. The field included Illinois, Delaware, Bradley, Washington State, Iowa, Denver, Sam Houston, Colorado State, St. Thomas, South Dakota State, Western Michigan, Green Bay and host Wisconsin.
The senior posted an 8-under score of 208 for the tournament, just one stroke away from first place. She finished below par in all three rounds of the tournament (69-68-71) and made par or better on all but three holes for the entire tournament. She helped lead the Lady Toppers to a third-place finish as a team.
It was the 10th top-five finish of her career and the 13th top-10 finish. Her 137 (-7) score through the first two rounds is tied for the third best 36-hole score in program history and is the senior’s personal best.
Hackett and the Lady Toppers will be back in action on Sept. 19-21 at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.
