Bowling Green Noon Lions Club hosts 36th annual Run for Sight
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Labor Day, many are enjoying the day off, sleeping in, and planning festivities. But many dedicated runners and community members gathered to support the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club Run For Sight.
At Covington Woods Park, the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club launched its 36th annual Run For Sight, raising money for many fantastic causes within the community. With this year marking 36 years, many faces have come back time and time again. The runners, organizers, and volunteers consider themselves family.
“I know where I’m going to be, and I know where the Bowling Green New Lions Club members are going to be. We start out on Sunday night, like last night, passing out packets and t-shirts for the runners that are coming today, and then, of course, we get here early this morning at 630 and we’re ready to do it again,” said President of the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club, Clay Diamond.
But the race is not run for glory or personal bragging rights, but rather for those in the community who need help the most. And when someone calls needing that help it’s races like these that help the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club respond to that call.
“It makes you feel really good that people can call on you in times of need. Like, whether it’s me, whether it’s the other members of the club. But they know that the tradition is to give and to help and to make a difference” Diamond said.
