Free Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Clinic set for Sept. 13 in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Bowling Green pet owners will have an opportunity to get free rabies vaccinations and microchips for their cats and dogs during a community clinic next month.

The City of Bowling Green Animal Protection Division is hosting the event Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bowling Green High School. Services are available at no cost for city residents.

Pets must be at least four months old. Cats must be in carriers, and dogs must be kept on leashes.

Pam Boose, a code compliance support specialist with the city, said the clinic makes a big difference for many pet owners.

“It’s a very big impact for some folks,” Boose said. “They don’t have a way to get these services otherwise. This helps them get something they wouldn’t normally be able to afford for their pet, and I think they really appreciate it.”

Staff will also scan animals for existing microchips and provide new chips free of charge. Boose said microchipping is an important tool to help reunite lost pets with their families.

The clinic is being offered in partnership with the Bowling Green–Warren County Humane Society and All Creatures Animal Hospital. Organizers said attendees should enter Bowling Green High School from Westen Street.
