Barren County Schools names Kris Aquino as district technology coordinator
GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County Schools has announced Kris Aquino as its new district technology coordinator.
Aquino has been part of the Barren County Schools team for more than a decade, serving as a teacher, school technology coordinator, district technology service specialist, district video coordinator and eSports coach.
He has also played a key role in the districtwide IT projects, infrastructure and student technology programs.
The district says his leadership has helped students achieve multiple state championships in technology competitions while also supporting teachers and staff with innovative solutions.
Aquino is a graduate of Barren County High School and went on to study computer information technology at Western Kentucky University before completing his bachelor’s degree in computer information technology at Colorado Technical University in 2020. His career path includes experience in both public education and the private sector before returning to Barren County Schools in district technology leadership.
“I am honored to serve as District Technology Coordinator for Barren County Schools,” Aquino said. “My focus is to build on the trust in technology established by Steve Gumm, lead the way in innovative projects across the state, and help prepare the next generation of technology leaders.”
Superintendent Amy Irwin added, “Kris has been a trusted leader in our district. His vision and technical expertise will help keep Barren County Schools at the forefront of educational technology.”
Aquino officially steps into his new role on Sept. 1.
