Feel Good Friday: National Corvette Museum 31st Anniversary

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Thirty-one years. Decades of new bodies, engines, wins, movies, and even sinkholes are on display at the National Corvette Museum for its 31st anniversary.

Not only is this a significant celebration for the museum, but also for the city of Bowling Green. The museum and the cars have had so much impact over the last 30-plus years. After all, they don’t call Bowling Green Vette City for no reason.

“Think of the impact that Corvette has had on Bowling Green for these last 30-plus years and even longer when you think that Corvettes have really been assembled here in Bowling Green since 1981,” said Ryan Eichler, Director of Marketing and Communications for NCM.

Numerous Bowling Green citizens have been to the Corvette Museum to enjoy the festivities and its rich history. There have even been some people coming in from out of town. People are coming in from as far as San Antonio, Texas, a 1,000-mile drive.

Roel Garza is volunteering to help with the event at NCM and is a big Corvette enthusiast. When asked about his experience so far, he said it has been amazing. “The experience has been amazing. Everybody here has been amazing. It’s just been quite the confirmation of, you know, where I should be at the right time with everybody.”

One of the biggest events this weekend will be the big NCM Hall of Fame ceremony. Members of Corvette’s rich history will be honored and enshrined with a banner in the sky dome and their picture in the newest Hall of Fame addition to the museum’s exhibits.

“The Corvette Hall of Fame is very, very special. So since 1998, we’ve really been, you know, honoring those who have really, you know, made their mark on Corvette. And they come from a variety of different categories, from enthusiasts to racing to GM and Chevrolet.” Eichler stated when asked about the Hall of Fame ceremony and festivities.
