BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department has released an update on a recent homicide case involving a pedestrian death.

According to the update provided by detectives on Wednesday, Aug. 27, an investigation shows 58-year-old Fred Hart of Bowling Green and 38-year-old Mario Harris were involved in a verbal altercation on Sunday.

Detectives say Hart entered a Chevrolet Suburban and backed out of the property on Brandywood Court onto Starlight Avenue.

After stopping briefly, authorities say Hart accelerated his vehicle forward, striking Harris.

Detectives say Harris was pulled underneath the SUV and dragged into the yard.

After the collision, detectives say Hart circled the property, exited the vehicle to approach Harris, then left the scene with three others inside of the SUV.

Harris sustained severe injuries, authorities say, and ultimately died from being struck by the SUV.

Detectives further state video surveillance from the home and multiple witnesses have confirmed the details of this incident.

Hart remains at the Warren County Regional Jail. He faces a charge of murder, along with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, first-degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assist with death or serious physical injury.

A passenger of the SUV, 34-year-old Savannah Caldwell, has since been released on bond. She faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assist with death or serious physical injury.
