BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Kansas man is accused of meeting a Kentucky teen for sexual intercourse.

According to authorities, Kentucky State Police Post 3 received a call reporting a juvenile had left their home with a 41-year-old male. Troopers say they contacted the minor’s parents, and a thorough investigation revealed 41-year-old Justin R. Bevitt of Topeka, Kansas had several past encounters with a 15-year-old female juvenile.

With assistance from the Warren County Commonwealth Attorneys Office, KSP says it obtained a search warrant for Bevitt’s property. Authorities then requested assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

On Friday, Aug. 22, KSP says agents conducted a search at Bevitt’s residence off of SW Lane St. in Topeka. During this time, officials say they arrested Bevitt on a warrant.

Bevitt is charged with procuring or promoting the use of a minor, first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, unlawful transaction with a minor in the second degree and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Bevitt was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Additional charges against Bevitt are pending in Kansas. Extradition is expected.

The investigation is ongoing.
