Kentucky man convicted of rape, attempted murder released from prison

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – A Kentucky man convicted of rape and attempted murder over 15 years ago has been released early from prison.
According to court records, Ernest Pine, 75, of Elizabethtown was released from prison on Aug. 19.
Court records further state Pine pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree rape with serious physical injury, first-degree sodomy with serious physical injury and attempted murder.
The charges stem from a case that originated in 2008 in Breckinridge County, according to court records.
Court records state Pine was sentenced in 2009 to 20 years in prison. However, court records show a release notification from the Kentucky Department of Corrections filed on Tuesday.
