Scottsville man charged with drug trafficking following crash into tractor-trailer

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man is facing multiple drug trafficking offense after a crash involving a tractor-trailer.

According to the Scottsville Police Department, officers responded around 3:48 a.m. Thursday to an injury accident at the intersection of U.S. 31-E and Highway 231 involving a passenger vehicle and tractor-trailer.

Authorities say the tractor-trailer, driven by 46-year-old Kimeron D. Eck of Scottsville, was traveling north on U.S. 31-E.

Police say a Toyota driven by 37-year-old Brandon T. Cox of Scottsville was traveling east on U.S. 31-E when he failed to stop at a red traffic light. Authorities say this resulted in a collision between the vehicle and tractor-trailer.

As a result, police say they later discovered 137 grams of marijuana, 26.7 grams of cocaine, 229 grams of THC gummies, hydrocodone, amphetamines and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

Cox was transported to the Allen County Detention Center following medical release.

He faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, disregarding a traffic controlled device, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), first-degree trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open alcohol beverage in motor vehicle, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), no registration, failure to produce insurance and prescription not in proper container.
