Man charged with child abuse in Alvaton
ALVATON, Ky. – One man is facing a child abuse charge in Alvaton.
According to a uniform citation, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday around 9:47 p.m. on Scottsville Road in Alvaton.
Deputies say they spoke to one of the drivers, identified as 33-year-old Jamin Pewett of Bowling Green.
Authorities say Pewett stated he was traveling toward Alvaton when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the opposite lanes, causing the other vehicle to sustain a rollover crash.
The citation states deputies spoke to the female driver of the other vehicle, which also had been occupied by an infant.
Authorities say the female subject stated she had been trying to avoid Pewett but had seen his vehicle when she returned home earlier that day. She then drove away until she reached Buddy Miller Road off of Scottsville Road, the citation states.
According to the citation, the female subject stated she thought she saw Pewett then driving northbound and turned her vehicle to go southbound before entering the northbound lane of Scottsville Road.
Deputies say the female subject stated she believed she was behind Pewett before she traveled 500 feet, and the collision took place.
After reviewing the crash scene, deputies say they had enough probable cause to believe Pewett intended to hit the other vehicle.
Pewett was taken into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for clearance. He was later lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
Authorities say all parties on scene stated there were no injuries. However, the citation states the female subject stated she would be taking the infant to a medical provider at a later time.
Pewett is charged with two counts of second-degree assault (domestic violence) and one count of first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 or under.
