Metcalfe Co. Schools switching to new chat feature after recent law passed

EDMONTON, Ky. – Metcalfe County Schools is taking a new approach to communication after Senate Bill 181 was recently passed into law.

The district says due to the Traceable Communication Law, it is no longer responding to Facebook comments or questions sent through Facebook Messenger.

Instead, Metcalfe County Schools says it will only continue to use Facebook as a one-way information platform to share news and announcements.

For the 2025-26 school year, MCS says families can use a a new chat feature on the Metcalfe County Schools App. This will be for both students and parents, according to the district.
