Pedestrian killed in collision in Christian County

CROFTON, Ky. –  A pedestrian has reportedly died following a collision in Christian County.

The Kentucky State Police says it was contacted by Christian County dispatch on Sunday just before 1 p.m. to investigate a fatal collision involving a pedestrian at the 22-mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation showed that a Chevrolet Equinox was parked on the northbound shoulder of the parkway while 32-year-old Krystin M. Bowling of Massillon, Ohio was securing luggage outside of the vehicle.

Troopers say 62-year-old Jeffrey B. Calhoun of Madisonville was driving a Toyota Prius northbound on the parkway when his vehicle traveled toward the parked vehicle for unknown reasons.

Authorities say the Toyota then struck Bowling, who had still been standing outside.

Bowling was pronounced dead on the scene by the Christian County coroner.

The investigation ins ongoing.
