Bowling Green police remind public of warrant scam

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is raising awareness of a fake warrant scam continuing in the area.

Police say a caller claims to be a police officer and says the victim has a warrant or an unpaid traffic ticket.

The caller then states they can pay using gift cards or Bitcoin, authorities say.

Police say the caller threatens arrest if the demands are not met.

BGPD reminds the public it is not involved in fine payments, and requests for gift cards or Bitcoin are red flags of a scam taking place.

If you experience this scam, officers say to hang up and call BGPD at 270-393-4000.
