Bowling Green police raise awareness of gift card scam

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is raising awareness of a returning scam to the local area.

Police say they were recently contacted by the agency’s retail partners over concerns about a gift card and fake warrant scam that is back in circulation.

Authorities say no law enforcement agency serves warrants over the phone or accepts gift cards, Bitcoin or Green Dot cards as payment. In addition, police say they do not have a part in warrant or citation payments.
