Message from the GM: ‘I Relay because I’m a survivor’

The following is a message from Julie Milam, general manager and general sales manager of WNKY’s NBC, CBS and MeTV, regarding the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life:
“For as long as I can remember, our WNKY News 40 team has participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event, so we can help make a difference in South Central Kentucky. And because most of us have been touched by cancer in some way, participating in a Relay for Life event is personal. Here’s why I Relay:”
“I Relay because I’m a survivor.
“Cancer changed my life—but it did not defeat me. I Relay to celebrate life, to honor the fighters and survivors, and to remember the loved ones we’ve lost. I Relay because I know firsthand how critical the American Cancer Society’s work is—from funding groundbreaking research to providing patient support and hope when it’s needed most.
“This year, I’ve started a Relay For Life team because I believe in turning my experience into action. I’m walking for those still in the fight, for those we’ve lost too soon, and for the day when no one has to hear the words, “You have cancer.”
“If you’ve been touched by cancer—yourself, a loved one, a friend—I invite you to join me. Walk with us. Donate if you can. Every dollar brings us closer to a cure. Every step is a stand against cancer.
“Let’s do this together.
“This year, it takes place at the Bowling Green Ballpark on Saturday, October 11th and I’d like you to join our team and help us make a bigger impact for our community.
“If you are interested in joining Team WNKY News 40 to walk, volunteer or to donate, here’s the link to sign up.”
