KSP provides update on trooper shot in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police says a trooper that was injured in Lexington on July 13 is recovering after a shooting incident.

According to KSP, the trooper injured, Jude Remilien, remains in the hospital in stable condition.

The agency shared the following statement on Wednesday regarding Remilien’s condition:

“The Kentucky State Police is appreciative of the outpouring of support and concern for the trooper who was injured during the events that took place in Lexington on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The injured trooper is Jude Remilien, a 3-year veteran of the agency assigned to Post 12 in Frankfort. Trooper Remilien remains in the hospital in stable condition. As he continues to recover, Trooper Remilien and his family respectfully request privacy.”

Remilien was injured during during a traffic stop on Terminal Drive near the Bluegrass Airport, according to authorities.

The second shooting incident involving the suspect occurred at around 11:30 a.m. that day at Richmond Road Baptist Church located on Old Richmond Road.

KSP says the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Guy House of Lexington, shot four victims on scene before law enforcement arrived.

Troopers say House had active arrest warrants.

While on scene, KSP says Lexington Police Department officers fired their weapons at House, which resulted in fatal injuries.

Two victims, identified as 72-year-old Beverly Gumm and 34-year-old Christina Combs, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner.
