Former BGHS baseball standout, Forbes, selected in 1st round of MLB Draft

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A former Bowling Green High School baseball standout was selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball.

Patrick Forbes was selected with the 29th pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Forbes was a four-year letterman in baseball at Bowling Green High School. He was named 2022 Mr. Kentucky Baseball and rated the number one shortstop and number one pitching prospect in Kentucky in his senior year at BGHS.

Forbes committed to playing for the University of Louisville. Forbes began his career as a two-way player before transitioning to full-time pitching in 2025.

The Louisville Cardinals advanced to the 2025 College World Series.

Forbes finished the season with a 4-2 record, 4.42 ERA, and 117 strikeouts. He ranked third in NCAA Division I with 14.8 strikeouts per nine innings.
