BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars after police say a 3-month-old child was found to have near-fatal brain injuries.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, detectives arrested 32-year-old Nicolas Valliant of Bowling Green on Tuesday in connection with a child abuse investigation.

Police say on June 26, Valliant and his wife took their 3-month-old child to the emergency room for an arm injury.

Due to the nature of the child’s injuries, police say the infant was transferred to a children’s hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Authorities say doctors there discovered the child had multiple near-fatal brain injuries.

Valliant remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on a charge of first-degree criminal abuse, child 12 or under.

The investigation remains ongoing.
