BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Morgantown man is facing multiple charges following an alleged burglary at the Muse apartment complex in Bowling Green.

According to a uniform citation, Bowling Green police responded Saturday at 9:45 p.m. to the Muse apartments for a reported burglary in progress.

Police say a resident stated she saw a man on her security camera enter her apartment.

Authorities say the caller stated she saw the man leave with a backpack containing a laptop and alcohol worth a total of nearly $2,700.

Police say they saw a male matching the given description just after 10 p.m. off of Morgantown Road near the Western Hills Motel.

Authorities say the subject, identified as 46-year-old Dewayne Adkins of Morgantown, ran and disregarded multiple orders to stop.

Officers say Adkins was taken into custody near Holly Drive and Catherine Drive.

During a search, authorities say they located two plastic bags in Adkins’ possession, with one containing over 6 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Police say they also located the backpack Adkins dropped containing the laptop.

Adkins stated he did not enter the apartment but that he bought the laptop in exchange for drugs behind a nearby gas station, authorities say.

Adkins remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others between $1,000 and $10,000, second-degree burglary, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second or greater offense (methamphetamine), and third-degree fleeing or evading police.
