Logan County man apprehended following vehicle pursuit

ADAIRVILLE, Ky. – A Logan County man is facing multiple charges following a vehicle pursuit in Adairville.

According to a uniform citation, the Adairville Police Department observed a vehicle speeding recklessly just before 9 p.m. Friday.

Police say the vehicle disregarded a stop sign and failed to use a right turn signal at South Main Street and East Gallatin, and officers attempted a traffic stop.

Authorities say the vehicle continued to travel and pulled into a residence on Franklin Hills Drive.

The citation states the driver, identified as 29-year-old Jonathan Daniels of Adairville, exited the vehicle and began swearing at police.

Police say Daniels failed to follow commands to get back into the vehicle, and a taser was deployed but was ineffective. In addition, police say three strikes of a baton to Daniels’ left thigh were ineffective.

Officers say Daniels additionally began to punch two members of law enforcement in the face while resisting arrest before running away.

Authorities say they caught up to Daniels and brought him to the ground, placing him into custody.

Daniels was transported to the Logan County Detention Center without further incident.

Officials say two small children were in the backseat of the vehicle involved in the pursuit during this incident. In addition, authorities say Daniels appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic.

Daniels faces charges of disregarding a stop sign, failure to or improper signal, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, menacing, endangering the welfare of a minor, first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, first offense,  first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, third-degree assault of a police officer or probation officer, possession of marijuana,  drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, failure to notify address change to Department of Transportation and first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot).
