Local drug task force sees uptick in crack cocaine in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After a drug bust Wednesday by the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force, officials are noticing a trend.

A search Wednesday morning at a home on Village Creek Drive led to the arrest of three men.

During that search, officials found 4 pounds of meth and 3 pounds of cocaine, as well as two handguns and over $58,000 in cash.

But according to officials, what was most startling was the nearly 2 pounds of crack cocaine, which they say is the most they’ve seen in years.

“We haven’t seen that quantity since the early 2000’s. We’re hopeful that’s not a trend, but with that quantity here in town, it’s certainly something we’re going to be looking at. We certainly encourage citizens to report because many times that’s what actually starts an investigation and looking at a residence or individual,” Tommy Loving, director of the BGWCDTF says.

Loving says he encourages citizens to report any potential subjects that might have drugs like these to the drug task force, which will help them begin investigating.
