Barren River Animal Welfare Association evacuates due to flooding

GLASGOW, Ky. – A local animal shelter has reportedly evacuated amid rising floodwaters in Barren County.

According to the Glasgow Police Department, the Barren River Animal Welfare Association began evacuating to higher ground just after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Police stated just after 3:30 p.m. that the animals have been located to higher ground in a safe place.

Connie Greer, general manager of BRAWA, says the evacuation was a precaution and has confirmed the building is secure and all of the animals are safe.

Police say Trojan Trail is flooded and not passable. Please do not attempt to drive through this area.
