Bowling Green community welcomes new chamber president and CEO with open house
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) — The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce held a grand re-opening Wednesday to celebrate its renovated offices and officially welcome new President and CEO Jim Page.
Page has been in the position for about four weeks. He said the turnout for Wednesday’s event was a reflection of the support the chamber has received from the community over the years.
During his first weeks on the job, Page said he has focused on meeting with business leaders, elected officials and other community leaders to learn more about the area and identify opportunities for improvement.
Page said one thing that has stood out to him is the cooperation between different sectors of the community.
“The public, private and nonprofit sectors really are rowing in the same direction,” Page said.
He said that cooperation gives Bowling Green an advantage as the community works toward a larger vision.
Page said his focus during his first 100 days is getting up to speed on projects and initiatives already underway, then building on that momentum.
He said his priorities include economic development, workforce development and working with community partners to make the Bowling Green area a strong place to live, work and start a business.
Page previously worked in Alabama and said he hopes to bring lessons from his career there to Kentucky while also developing ideas specifically suited to Bowling Green.
Page said the community’s welcome during his first month has reinforced his excitement about beginning his tenure with the chamber.
