Adair County teacher allegedly sexually abused minor, plotted to murder husband

COLUMBIA, Ky. – An Adair County woman is facing charges after plotting to murder husband.

Kentucky State Police says it is investigating an allegation that Elena Bardin, 27, of Columbia, solicited a juvenile at the Adair Juvenile Detention Center to kill her husband.

KSP says the Adair County Juvenile Detention Center conducted a routine search on March 27 of juveniles’ living units. They located letters and explicit materials in a male juvenile’s possession sent by Bardin, who is an Adair County School teacher assigned to the facility. The materials were confiscated.

Detectives discovered evidence that Bardin solicited a male juvenile to kill her husband. Bardin allegedly engaged in illegal sexual contact with the male juvenile and gave him sexually explicit photos of herself.

KSP arrested Bardin on Wednesday. Bardin is lodged at the Adair County Detention Center.

Bardin is charged with murder (solicitation), first-degree sexual abuse, and first-offense distribution of obscene matter to a minor.

The investigation is ongoing.
