Road project to impact traffic on portions of I-65 southbound
HARDIN, LARUE, HART counties, Ky. – A portion of Interstate 65 southbound will have traffic impacts due to a project beginning April 1.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4, an asphalt repair and preservation project will occur along an 18-mile stretch of I-65 from the Munfordville area to near Sonora.
Transportation officials say one lane will be open in this area beginning at 8 p.m. Central Standard Time. on Tuesday, April 1 on the southbound lanes near the 83-mile marker.
Crews will continue south over the next few weeks performing crack seal work before turning around and going north, officials say.
Work will stop, and lane closures will be removed by 4 a.m. CST each morning. Officials say work is being conducted overnight to minimize disruption to traffic.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution and slow down in this area.
Northbound traffic will not be affected during this time. All work is subject to weather conditions.
According to officials, work should be complete by Sept. 30.
