Phoenix Rising helping child sex trafficking survivors at Youth Summit
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local nonprofit Phoenix Rising is hosting its annual Youth Summit meeting tomorrow, providing children who have beaten incredible odds an opportunity to meet and talk with people who have shared similar stories.
Phoenix Rising will be bringing in adults who are survivors of child sex trafficking and talk to children living in group homes who have also been victims of sex trafficking and share their stories of how they were able to live successful lives. While discussing topics like child sex trafficking can be difficult, these discussions are necessary.
However, finding adult survivors willing to share their story is difficult as well, making meetings like their Youth Summit all the more important.
“Helping them is extraordinarily difficult, however, because we can bring to them adult survivors who are trained to mentor and who have walked in their shoes, who are actually trafficked themselves as children and now have overcome their trauma and are living victorious lives, it’s extraordinarily powerful for these young people to hear from them,” said Phoenix Rising President Sarah Jane Zink.
Phoenix Rising is always looking for willing volunteers to make a positive impact in these children’s lives. If you would like to be a volunteer, you can click here for more information.
