Family loses house, belongings in Edmonson County fire

WINGFIELD, Ky. – One family has lost a home after a fire in the Wingfield community early Tuesday.

According to EdmonsonVoice.com, area firefighters received an initial call just before 5 a.m. for a fire on Pine Oak Lane near Wingfield Church Road. According to emergency radio traffic, the caller lost connection to dispatch from poor phone service in the area.

EdmonsonVoice.com reports the call first came in as a structure fire in the house’s chimney.

More here.

Upon arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Family members at the scene said the home was built in the late 1920s or early ’30s and was a total loss. The family reportedly lost everything in the fire aside from the clothes they were wearing.

No injuries were reported.

The size of the private gravel driveway and its location a mile off of the road prevented multiple firetrucks from arriving on scene at the same time.

Firetrucks from several departments had to stay at the Windfield Fire Department just down the road while two trucks were able to travel to the house.

The Wingfield, Chalybeate, Brownsville, Richardsville, Kyrock, Bear Creek and Lincoln Fire Departments all responded, in addition to Warren RECC.

Relief efforts are currently underway. To find out how you can help the family impacted by this fire, call or text Haley Ashley at 270-392-8550.
