State police investigating officer-involved shooting in Franklin County

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Franklin County.
KSP says its Critical Incident Response Team was requested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a shooting on Saturday at approximately 6:30 am.
An investigation by CIRT indicates that two FCSO officers responded to a call regarding a man experiencing a mental health crisis.
Officers say that during the incident, the man was combative and possessed a knife. One of the officers fired their weapon and the individual was struck. The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The officers were not injured during the incident.
KSP CIRT says the information in this investigation is subject to change. The investigation is ongoing as witness interviews and facts are gathered.
