Warren County hires fire coordinator

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Earlier in the year, Warren County got results back from a consulting firm, who was tasked to find ways to better improve the volunteer fire departments of Warren County.

Recently, step one has been accomplished – hiring a fire coordinator for Warren County. Bill Rector has been hired to fill that role. However, many of these fire departments have been active for many decades and have successfully served the many communities of Warren County during that time, so what will the fire coordinator do exactly?

The fire coordinator will have many jobs, looking to organize the efforts of each department to better serve Warren County.

“Coordinate the needs and assessments. You know, what do they need? What’s going good? We did that big study. We spent a bunch of money for that fire study and they came back from the the consultants came back and said, here are things that you need to do. Step one, step two, step three. So step one was to hire a fire coordinator,” said Warren County magistrate Ron Cummings.

Cummings also said that by bringing in the departments under one umbrella, it will make things like training, recruiting and retention a bit easier and will better protect the county as a whole.
