Laurel Co. teen allegedly stabs another teen in the back with knife

LONDON, Ky. – A teen is charged with first-degree assault after allegedly stabbing another teen in the back.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says deputies responded to a stabbing complaint near American Greeting Card Road on Thursday evening.

Deputies say that a 16-year-old juvenile male allegedly stabbed another 16-year-old male in the back multiple times. The alleged attack caused serious physical injury and the victim was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington in critical condition.

The 16-year-old juvenile male suspect is charged with first-degree assault and was lodged at the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a motive for the alleged attack is not known.
