Over 2 million Stanley mugs recalled due to lid detaching, causing burns

WNKY – More than 2 million Stanley mugs are now recalled due to concerns of a burn risk.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission says Stanley is recalling about 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs since the lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat, causing the lid to detach.
Safety officials say the recalled mugs were sold in a variety of colors, including white, black and green, in 12-ounce, 16-ounce and 20-ounce sizes.
In total, CPSC says the company has had 91 worldwide reports of incidents, with 38 burn injuries worldwide, 11 of which resulted in consumers needing medical attention. Sixteen consumers in the U.S. alone experienced the mugs’ lids detaching, officials say.
The products were sold at Amazon.com, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target and other stores nationwide from June 2016 through this month. The mugs were purchased for between $20 and $50.
If you have this recalled product, safety officials say you should immediately stop using it and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid, including shipping.
