Woman arrested after allegedly trafficking drugs in Barren County home

EIGHTY EIGHTY, Ky. – A Barren County woman is facing multiple charges in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police received information that led them to believe Melissa Violette 49, of Eighty Eight, Kentucky in Barren County was trafficking in illegal drugs.

Authorities say they responded around 12:45 a.m. to a residence to serve a search warrant off of Burkesville Road.

Upon arrival and entry into the home, troopers say Violette walked out of a bathroom while a toilet was flushing.

Troopers say they detained Violette and two males in the residence before locating a small child asleep in a back right bedroom. Authorities say social services was requested to respond to the scene.

During a search of the residence, troopers say they located suspected methamphetamine, a large plastic bag of suspected marijuana, digital scales and U.S. currency. In addition, authorities located a large amount of suspected marijuana and a pipe in the back of the toilet.

Troopers say Violette stated each item was hers and that she had flushed methamphetamine down the toilet, authorities say.

Violette was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center. She is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 oz.), first offense, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a minor.
