Estill County man charged with child sexual exploitation offenses

RAVENNA, Ky. – An Estill County man is facing child sexual exploitation charges.
The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Shawn Michael Tumey, 31, on charges related to child sexual abuse material on Monday.
KSP conducted an undercover investigation of Tumey. Police say Tumey was sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
A search warrant was obtained for Tumey’s residence in Ravenna. KSP collected equipment that is believed to be used in the alleged crimes.
The equipment was sent to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.
The investigation is ongoing.
Tumey is charged with one count of failure to comply with sex offender registration, one count of tampering with physical evidence, one count of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance, one count of knowingly possessing a child sex doll, one count of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years old, and twenty counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years old.
Tumey was lodged at the Estill County Detention Center.
