Boating fatality reported on Kentucky Lake

STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. – Officials say one man has been found dead at Kentucky Lake in Stewart County.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, their officers responded Tuesday for a report concerning an overdue boater.

Authorities say upon arrival, they discovered a body.

Following a preliminary investigation, officials say they learned Mark Powell, 63, had launched a small Jon boat from Piney Campground to work on a duck blind.

According to authorities, Powell was found dead in the water near the boat ramp.

Officials say Powell’s boat was located against the bank about 65 yards from the ramp.

The agency says this marks the second boating-related fatality on Kentucky Lake this year.
