2 people rescued after falling off of cliff in Russell County

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. – Two people are home safe in Russell County after falling hundreds of feet off a cliff face.

The Russell County Search and Rescue was dispatched to respond to cries for help in the low-gap area of Lake Cumberland.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two people had fallen off a cliff face.

One person fell approximately 150 feet, coming to a rest against a tree. The other fell an estimated 200 to 250 feet and was in critical condition.

It took several skilled rope rescue technicians, along with two EMS personnel, to scale the rock face to reach both victims.

EMS then treated injuries, including a possible ankle injury and facial trauma.
