Former Warren Central substitute teacher charged with sexual abuse of student
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A former Warren Central High School substitute teacher is charged with sexual abuse of a student.
According to a uniform citation, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on Nov. 22 regarding a sexual offense at Warren Central High School. The citation states it was reported a teacher had sent sexual messages to a student.
The sheriff’s office says a teacher told the school’s administrative staff that sexual messages had been sent between a female juvenile student and a teacher identified as Christopher Porter-Bunton, 29, of Bowling Green. Deputies say the information was reported to the teacher by several juvenile students.
One juvenile witness told the sheriff’s office they had seen some messages between Porter-Bunton and the female juvenile student, deputies say. Porter-Bunton and the victim planned to meet in a school hallway, the citation states.
Another juvenile witness told deputies that the victim had told her about meeting with Porter-Bunton after school in a classroom in March 2024, deputies say. Porter-Bunton allegedly kissed the victim and exposed his genitals during this time, according to the citation.
Deputies say one juvenile witness also stated to deputies that Porter-Bunton would quickly show sexual photographs to the victim during class.
During an interview, the sheriff’s office stated the victim told them that Porter-Bunton began messaging her on Instagram in November 2023. The victim says she engaged in sexual conversation with Porter-Bunton, who sent photographs and a video of a sexual nature to the victim.
The citation further states the victim says Porter-Bunton messaged her in March 2024 to return to a classroom to pick up an item that she “forgot.” The victim says Porter-Bunton pulled her into the classroom, hugged and kissed her, and exposed his genitals at this time, according to the citation. The sheriff’s office stated the victim says Porter-Bunton attempted to unbutton her pants but that she stopped Porter-Bunton and left the classroom.
During an interview with Porter-Bunton, the sheriff’s office says Porter-Bunton initially denied all sexual messages or contact with the victim before admitting to sexually speaking to the victim, sending the victim sexual photographs and video but denied touching her sexually.
Porter-Bunton was arrested and is lodged at the Warren County Detention Center.
Porter-Bunton is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, procuring or promoting use of a minor by electronic means, and distribution of obscene matter to minors (first offense).
The Warren County Public Schools district has issued the following statement regarding the incident:
