Toys for Tots officially open to donation requests from families starting Nov. 18

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As the cold season approaches, so does the holiday season, and Toys for Tots in Bowling Green is staying busy.

This upcoming Monday is an important date. The phone officially opens for families to call and ask for donations.

One volunteer mans the phone, answering calls and taking orders from families across the region. This phone line is the line that connects the toys to the tots that need it most.

Janel Doyle, coordinator of Toys for Tots, says, “This phone line is so important. That’s the only way that we get requests from the families. We do not do any other type of application. Now, the key is they have to be patient when they first call in, because we only have one phone and one volunteer that that rotates to.”

The phone will officially be open starting at 8 a.m. on Nov. 18 and will go until Dec. 18.

Doyle says that because they only have one phone, it may take time to get through, but they will serve everyone that needs their help.

For residents in Warren County, you can call starting Monday on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 270-562-0518. For those in outside counties, you can find your area’s phone number here.
