Drug trafficking investigation in Burkesville leads to several arrests

BURKESVILLE, Ky. – Three people are facing drug-related charges in Cumberland County following an investigation on Thursday.
The Kentucky State Police says it worked with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Burkesville Police Department to conduct a joint investigation.
During this time, troopers say they uncovered information that led to a search warrant for a home on Coolidge Humphrey Road in Cumberland County.
While on scene, troopers say they found Amber Melton, 31, Jamie Stearns, 47, and Wesley Smith, 31, of Burkesville at the residence. Authorities say during the search, they located suspected methamphetamine, suspected hydrocodone pills and suspected marijuana, along with a firearm and several items of drug paraphernalia.
Melton, Stern and Smith were arrested and transported to the Adair County Detention Center.
All three individuals are charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (opiates), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing.
