When are the safest hours to walk during Halloween?
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Halloween is just days away, and News 40 wants to make sure you’re safe while trick-or-treating this season.
According to most safety recommendations, the safest time to trick-or-treat is between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. This minimizes the risk of being out too late at night when visibility is poor.
Some other safety tips to keep in mind include the following, according to officials:
- Be sure to always check with your local community or police department for specific recommended trick-or-treating hours. In Warren County, recommended hours this year are 4 to 7 p.m., according to the Warren County KY Government.
- Next is to be visible. Wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight to be easily seen by drivers.
- Finally, make sure to stay in well-lit areas. That means avoid poorly lit streets or areas with heavy traffic.
