Franklin man charged with strangulation, unlawful imprisonment

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Franklin man is facing charges related to a reported assault on Friday.

According to a uniform citation, the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office responded for a delayed assault on Oct. 18.

Upon arrival, deputies say they observed visible marks, bruises and cuts on the victim.

The victim stated the assault occurred starting around 4 a.m. Friday morning, saying Cody Neblett, 37, of Franklin entered the room she was in and grabbed her neck, hit her head against objects, choked her and struck her in the mouth, according to the citation.

Deputies say the victim stated Neblett threatened to kill her.

The citation states this incident continued until around 5:20 a.m.

Deputies say upon detaining and speaking to Neblett, he stated an altercation had happened that morning with the victim and that he had grabbed her “by the back of the neck.” Neblett denied choking her, authorities say.

Neblett was arrested and is charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree strangulation (domestic violence related), fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, no visible injury) and third-degree terroristic threatening.

He remains at the Simpson County Detention Center on a $15,000 cash bond.
