The Salvation Army of Bowling Green to honor local leaders at luncheon
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Salvation Army of Bowling Green says it will host its Champions of Hope Luncheon on Friday, Nov. 1 to honor three local community leaders who have significantly impacted the organization.
These will include Bob Kirby, Jim Johnson and Romanza Johnson, according to a release by the nonprofit.
Each person has served on The Salvation Army’s Bowling Green Advisory Board for over 30 years, the release says, playing a “vital role in expanding services” across the region.
Kirby and Jim Johnson are also being honored for their part in the construction of the Center of Hope shelter, which continues to provide emergency housing for those in need,” the release says. Romanza Johnson has led the Angel Tree program, which helps bring Christmas gifts to children and seniors every year.
The event will feature special guests, including commissioner Kenneth Hodder, national commander of The Salvation Army USA, and his wife, commissioner Jolene Hodder.
Captain Johnny Horton, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army of Bowling Green, encouraged community members to attend the event to celebrate the honorees’ lasting impact:
“Bob, Jim, and Romanza have dedicated their time and passion to helping others for over 30 years. Their efforts have shaped the services we provide to those in need, and this luncheon is our opportunity to honor their legacy of hope. I encourage everyone who supports The Salvation Army to join us in recognizing these incredible individuals and the difference they have made in Southern Kentucky.”
