WCPS holds Public Safety Forum following threats of violence
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After threats made against Warren County Public Schools on September 13 and over the weekend, parents took to their phones and keyboards imploring the school system to host a public forum to address concerns.
At Warren Central High School, dozens of community members filled the auditorium to hear what school officials had to say and voice their concerns about safety following threats made against the schools which officials say were mostly just rumors and misunderstood conversations. Opening the forum, Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower said the Bowling Green Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office both have one juvenile in custody.
Hightower told parents tonight that he and other public figures “don’t have the leisure of putting out things that aren’t factual” and while that might be frustrating for parents, it’s all in the interest of public safety.
News 40 spoke to some parents after the forum and reactions varied, some parents saying they didn’t really hear what they were hoping for.
