Governor Beshear reacts to school threats

Bowling Green, Ky. – Across South Central Kentucky, schools have been encountering a terrifying reality, kids are now calling threats into schools or spreading rumors, and law enforcement is forced to react.

Multiple elected Kentucky officials have taken notice, and say enough is enough. Schools have been equipped to react quickly if a tragedy were to occur but the threat of violence is enough to worry any student or parent.

Governor Andy Beshear had to say about the recent uptick in threats saying “Children should feel safe when they’re dropped off at school and all parents should know their children are safe the whole day when they’re in school. That’s why we’ve provided significant resources to try to make our schools as safe as we can. First, physically, you see all the different changes from the multiple doors. People have to be buzzed into to the most schools having sorrows on their campus grounds than ever before in our history. But that’s not enough. And we’ve got to do more.”

Law enforcement recommend that parents talk to their children about the seriousness of the situation and to never joke about it.
