Nolin Lake’s ‘Raft Up’ raises $30,000 for Grayson County nonprofits

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – A large amount of funding is set to benefit Grayson County, thanks to the annual “Raft Up” event at Nolin Lake.
More than 500 boats participated, with organizers raising over $60,000, according to a release by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
The release says funding will benefit Grayson County charities and surrounding nonprofits, including Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Knights of Columbus, Edmonson-Hart-and Grayson Family Resource Centers, Leitchfield Lions Club, Grayson County High School Bass Fishing Team, Butterfly Farms and Grayson County law enforcement’s “Behind the Badge.”
Behind the Badge will be getting $30,000, which the sheriff’s office says funds Grayson County law enforcement’s yearly Shop with a Cop. During this event, authorities say they spend over $25,000 to help local children and families.
In addition, authorities say all 15 applicants were awarded a Behind the Badge scholarship, valued at $1,000 each.
The release says Shop with a Cop has also helped provide the following:
- A newer vehicle for a woman whose prior vehicle stopped working when she traveled for cancer treatment.
- Donations matched up to $5,000 for others battling cancer.
- Caps and gowns for graduating seniors.
- Shelter, food and gas cards for domestic violence victims.
