CUB RUN, Ky. – Two parents are charged with criminal abuse of a child and wanton endangerment in Edmonson County.

According to a citation, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office accompanied Child Protective Services to a home visit for an alleged child endangerment call on Thursday, August 29.

In a report, two parents say they were the victims of a shooting while traveling in their vehicle. The report says officers identified 8 bullet holes. A 7-year-old and a 6-month-old were also occupants of the vehicle.

The 6-month-old was struck by a gunshot in the leg above the knee. The sheriff’s office says the mother and father of the child did not report the incident and did not take the child for medical treatment. The parents did not take the 7-year-old to school the next day, saying the child had been in a car accident.

The alleged shooting took place on Monday, August 19.

The 6-month-old had an open wound 10 days after the shooting and the citation states it is unknown if the bullet is in the child’s leg.

The father, identified as Hennessy Richardson, 34 of Cub Run, was arrested on outstanding warrants in Kentucky.

Officers stayed at the residence with the mother, Camdace Patterson, 33 of Cub Run. Patterson was taken into custody after instruction from Sheriff James Vincent and County Attorney Adam Turner.

Hennessy and Patterson are charged with criminal abuse 1st degree (child 12 or under) and wanton endangerment 1st degree. They are lodged in the Hart County Jail.
